PRESENTERS in CLEVELAND
James Lecher, CEP, is an Associate Director in the Valuation Services Group at Equity Methods. In his role, James works with Fortune 500 clients on the valuation of various equity compensation instruments using Monte Carlo simulations, Lattice and Black-Scholes models.
Prior to joining Equity Methods, James built an extensive career in the equity compensation industry, having served as Director of Research and Development for a national equity compensation valuation practice. He has 15 years of experience in valuation and financial reporting of equity awards under ASC 718, and has spent much of his career specializing in the design and use of Monte Carlo simulation models to value performance-based equity awards. He also has been published in the WorldatWork Journal.
James graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics with a minor in Physics from Arcadia University and is a Certified Equity Professional (CEP).
Bryce Bergman is a Financial Reporting Manager with Equity Methods. He has helped to manage some of the firm’s largest and most complex ongoing engagements. Specializing in tax-mobility reporting, he has also worked on various new client solutions, admin transitions, and business development initiatives. Bryce is a member of the Accounting Policy Task Force, which monitors changes to the accounting guidance, ensures that knowledge is shared broadly within the firm, and aims to improve the firm’s service at all times.
Bryce graduated as a Huntsman Scholar from the Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University. There, he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration & Marketing with a minor in Entrepreneurship.
PRESENTERS in CINCINNATI
Nathan O’Connor is a Managing Director at Equity Methods, a consultancy that helps hundreds of public and private companies model, value and account for equity compensation and other complex securities. As the first point of contact for prospective clients, Nathan brings over a decade of quantitative consulting experience to bear in collaborating with the Valuation, Reporting, and HR Advisory practices within Equity Methods to ensure that prospective clients’ needs are met. As a liaison between the company and the broader compensation community, he shares best practices at industry events throughout the country and through publishing technical articles. Prior to his current role, Nathan served as the national valuation practice leader at Equity Methods, where he oversaw all client delivery, operations, and R&D in support of more than 400 public and private clients, in addition to directly serving the compensation consultants and senior executives of several Fortune 50 companies.
A technician at heart, Nathan is a Certified SAS Base Programmer who has taught core finance topics in the University of Arizona’s MBA program and internal derivatives workshops at Equity Methods. He holds a B.A. in International Relations from Purdue University, an M.B.A. in Derivative Securities from the Quinlan School of Business at Loyola University Chicago, and an M.S. in Finance (PhD ABD) from the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona. He previously served on the Board of the Las Vegas NASPP as Program Chair and the Phoenix Chapter of the NASPP as Secretary. Currently, Nathan serves as a Chapter Leader of the Arizona Chapter of Financial Executives International and an Advisory Board Member of the Certified Equity Professional Institute.
Corey Nelson is a Financial Reporting Manager with Equity Methods. Corey works with multiple Fortune 500 companies to identify process improvements, develop custom financial reports related to equity compensation, and respond to ad hoc questions as they arise. He has also helped create specialized solutions for clients, including a complex retirement eligibility process and expense mobility tracking.
Corey graduated magna cum laude from Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey School of Business with Bachelor of Science degrees in Finance and Accounting. He was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma as well as Barrett, the Honors College at Arizona State University.
Clayton Nocella is a Consultant in the Valuation and HR Advisory Services group at Equity Methods. Clayton primarily supports clients with ASC 718 valuations by using custom Black-Scholes, lattice or Monte Carlo models. In addition, he assists companies in designing new equity incentive plans, data-based analysis projects and in complex security valuations. Clayton has also contributed to developing and improving the efficiency of Equity Method’s internal processes.
Clayton graduated with honors from Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey School of Business with a Master’s of Science in Finance.
