PRESENTERS
 
William Murphy is a Principal in Ernst & Young’s (EY) People Advisory Services (PAS) Tax Reward practice where he leads the Compensation practice for the US and the Americas. Bill has 28 years of experience in compensation matters and is a member of the global Reward and Compensation Practice leadership team.
 
Bill advises public and private companies on the design, implementation and operation of their executive compensation philosophy and strategy and the programs to support that strategy, including short-term and long-term incentive programs.  In this capacity Bill advises both compensation committees and management with respect to their executive compensation programs, and has served as the compensation consultant to numerous public and private company compensation committees.
 
Bill’s experience as a compensation advisor includes proxy peer group development and benchmarking and survey benchmarking across a variety of industries including technology, financial services, life sciences (pharma and medical device) and diversified industrial products.
 
Bill has experience working with companies on the governance of its compensation programs including review of the role of the Board of Directions, the Compensation Committee and management in setting pay for employees.

Bachelor\'s degree in History from the University of Dayton
J.D. from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, Cleveland State University and Masters of Law (LLM) in taxation from Case Western Reserve University School of Law.
Certified Equity Professional and former member of the Global Equity Organization Advisory Board, and CEPI Advisory Board
Frequent speaker at national events on topics including compensation design, compensation in transactions, equity taxation and accounting, and equity administration.
 
Jason French is a Managing Director in the People Advisory Services practice of EY, with 20 years of experience related to the analysis, design and implementation of compensation and benefit matters for both US domestic and internationally mobile employees. His expertise is in the compensation and benefits space for both US and multinational companies, equity compensation, global equity, annual & long-term incentive plan and design, payroll and tax withholding, and US tax technical matters, including but not limited to Section 162(m), Section 280G golden parachutes, and Section 409A.  He has assisted US domestic, US multinational, and foreign corporate clients with corporate transactions including: IPO readiness, buy-side due diligence, sell-side due diligence, post-closing integration and corporate inversions.
 
Jason has also presented courses to various client stakeholders and professional groups focusing on US compensation and benefits issues, global equity, and the Executive Compensation Proxy Disclosure considerations.  Jason has also participated in workshops with the Women’s Commission on Equal Pay for the City of Columbus Ohio, and has presented on equal pay initiatives at the request of the Commission.
 
Credentials: Jason has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics (with Honors) from the University of Cincinnati; a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of New Brunswick (Canada) Faculty of Law where he served as an Associate Editor of the University of New Brunswick Law Review; and an L.L.M. in Taxation from the University of Washington School of Law. 
 
Jason has also attained the Certified Equity Professional (CEP) designation through Santa Clara University’s Executive Development Center and is a member of the National Association of Stock Plan Professionals. 
 
Jason is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the United States Tax Court.  Jason is proficient in oral and written French and has a Certificate in French Immersion Studies for completion of French studies from grade school through high school.  Jason has also studied elementary oral and written Irish.
 
 
Spencer Gibson is a Director at Aon plc with 10 years of experience in the corporate governance space. Prior to leading Aon’s equity plan proposal solutions team, Spencer worked at the proxy advisor firm, Glass Lewis, where he was a Senior Research Analyst on the company’s executive compensation team. His expertise and strengths include the following: (i) Glass Lewis’ and ISS’ compensation policies, voting guidelines, and research approach; (ii) strategic process of requesting shares and obtaining majority support for equity compensation plans; (iii) ISS and Glass Lewis share request analysis; (iv) Compensation, Discussion and Analysis disclosure strategy; (v) Glass Lewis’ pay-and-performance techniques; and (vi) governance engagement process of public companies.
 
Dan Pliskin is a Partner in the Corporate Governance advisory practice within the Human Capital business unit of Aon plc (which includes Radford and McLagan). With a holistic perspective, Dan frequently counsel\'s clients on institutional investor and proxy advisor policies, as well as securities, tax and accounting considerations and peer practices. Dan proactively works with clients to understand potential risks and to develop strategies to accomplish objectives in light of applicable investor, proxy advisor and legal provisions. He is a seasoned advisor to boards of directors, committees and management on governance, executive compensation and equity matters.
Previously, Mr. Pliskin served as principal corporate governance counsel at a NYSE-listed REIT and as chief securities counsel and investor relations manager at a Nasdaq technology company. He also was Of Counsel in the Corporate and Securities Department of an AmLaw 100 law firm and an Associate in the Corporate and Securities Department at another AmLaw 100 law firm. In addition, his previous experience includes investment management work with a registered investment advisor.
