As companies continue to expand internationally or simply have employees in various locations as a result of remote work policies, the need for a global strategy has become more and more important. Developing and updating an international compensation plan to support that strategy is a central component of corporate success. We will discuss the major steps needed to expand and offer equity awards internationally and developments that are occurring globally to keep your plan up to date.


Presenters:

Denise Glagau is a partner at Baker & McKenzie's North America Employment and Compensation practice and leads the Compensation practice in the Firm's California offices. Denise has authored several articles and frequently speaks on topics of interest for legal and other professionals dealing with global share plan issues. She is on the Advisory Board of the Certified Equity Professionals Institute (CEPI) of Santa Clara University, serves as the Secretary of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Stock Plan Professionals (NASPP) San Francisco Chapter and is a member of the Global Equity Organization (GEO). She is recognized as a ranked practitioner by Chambers USA in the area of Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation.

Steve Stratton is a counsel at Baker & McKenzie's North America Employment and Compensation practice where he focuses on international equity plans, executive compensation, and employee benefits. He advises US multinational corporations on tax, securities, labor, data privacy, and exchange control compliance issues related to offering equity compensation programs on a worldwide basis. He also advises non-US companies on tax and securities law issues related to offering equity plans in the US and also counsels companies on the cross-border tax issues for their mobile employees. He is a member of the National Association of Stock Plan Professionals, the Global Equity Organization, and the Bar Association of San Francisco.
